A winner and a new quilt to inspire you

It’s time to announce the winner of the sewing compendium “Sew Necessary”
Congratulations to May Britt you are the lucky one. Please send me your address so that I can send you the pattern.

I have started yet another quilt. This one is done with English paper piecing and lots of different fabrics from my stash.  Here are a couple of the blocks I have made so far.PICT2132

I am using 1″ octagons and 1″ squares.
If you happen to get the urge feel free to join in and make one of your own.
If you need to purchase the pre-cut papers they are available from Patchwork with Busyfingers. There is a 30% discount on these two paper shapes till the end of May. The discount will be taken off when the order is dispatched.
What really makes it interesting is fussy cutting your fabric using the busyfingers clear perspex template that has the 1/4″ seam allowance built in.
As I start to sew it together I will post more photos.
If you do decide to join me please send photos of your blocks to me.
I dare you to use some ugly fabric it looks fantastic if it is fussy cut.

I thought that I would post a picture of a another one of my students works in progress.
Lyn works very methodically on numerous things at once like most of us. We are designing this project as she goes along.
Looks great don’t you think. PICT2130

Well I am going off to piece some more octagons.

Till next time
