Paper Lanterns Sew Along Week Twenty-One

Welcome to Week 21! The start of our low volume corner blocks. I’ve been pretty busy this week getting ready to launch my fun new Block of the Month which I’ve been working on for a little while but no matter how long I give myself it always seems that there is still so much to be done right before launch, I’m very grateful for my team for keeping me in line. If I had my way I’d launch everything as soon as the idea comes and work it out along the way lol oops…

Some more finishes this week. I’m absolutely loving the variety of fabrics being used and its interesting how everyone puts fabric together uniquely. This past month the girls & I have had many conversations with customers who are now referencing the Paper Lanterns as ‘The Covid Quilt’. I have to admit I did have a laugh when I first heard this and then realised that this moment in time won’t be forgotten and I’m pretty honoured that my quilt has had a small part to play in getting us through this time especially my friends in extended lockdown.

Just a note that the low volume blocks are completely random & scrappy and there is no need to follow the exact fabric placement. I did not follow the original design for fabric placement, I simply cut my shapes and joined together randomly.

Hint: When fussy-cutting the white floral fabric for the 2″ half hexagons I have laid out the templates like the image below to get the most repeats. You could, however, need to cut strips between the 2 templates and then cut your half hexagons out.
