It’s a Classic Kinda Day: Around the World

Inside Banner16

Good morning everyone!

For this week’s block we will be making Around the World.

To create this block we will first need the following templates.

Around the World Diagrams-01

The template kits for all my Classics are available through Sue Daley stockists and can be bought directly through Patchwork With Busyfingers. This block should measure 12½” when pieced together (12″ finished).

Many of these blocks can be machine or hand-pieced, depending on your preferences and what you feel most comfortable with. I personally prefer to hand-piece these blocks.

Following the hand piecing instructions sew 2-B pieces to 1-A piece as shown in the diagram.

Sew 1-D piece, 1-E piece, and 1-DR piece to 1-C piece using one continuous thread shown in the diagram.

The block should now measure 12½” square.

The block should look like this once complete.

As always I encourage you to have some fun with fabric placements and experiment a little! Here is one of my experiments with Around the World.

You can also try alternative layouts when creating a quilt using this block.

I would love to see your work, so remember share your creations using the #suedaleyclassics hashtag on social media.
