International Women’s Day and a Breast Cancer Afternoon Tea

This morning I rose early as we had a big day on the adgenda.
I had to get busy in the kitchen and prepare some goodies for afternoon tea.
Here is one of the plates I did. Aren’t they cute little tea cups?

This afternoon I realised it was International women’s Day as we were about to launch into hosting an afternoon tea to raise money for Breast Cancer.
As some of the Queensland patchworkers would know it is nearly time for the Quilter’s Trail which starts on  1st April. Each year before it begins Margaret from Cooroy Drapery organises an afternoon tea and all the money raised goes to Breast Cancer research.
Last year I was delighted to be the guest speaker so this year, as the theme was “In the garden” I offered our B&B as the venue.
Well, what a great day we had and so many people come wearing green with a flower in their hair.

Just as everyone had settle in for the afternoon we heard someone come around the corner ringing a bell.
It was Victoria from Victoria’s Verse
She had written a poem especially for our day. It was wonderful.

To finish off a wonderful and successful fundraising day we had lucky door prizes and raffles.
Many lucky people went home with gifts that were generously donated by a Hyacinths Bouquet florist, French’s restaurant and Cooroy Drapery all business are located in Cooroy.

Now we are all looking forward to the bus trip for the Quilter’s Trail.

Till next time
