Bring Me Sunshine Week 6

Welcome back to Week 6! Well mother nature has sure turned on the heat for us on south east Queensland this week, we had highs of 36 celsius and even the locals were walking around with their tongues hanging out. For those who haven’t visited Queensland before, the weather starts heating up a little before Summer officially begins typically in mid November but she has different plans for us this year, but can we really be surprised after the past 18 months we’ve all experienced.

Not to worry though, these warmer days bring so much joy to my life and especially now that i’m sporting a sling for the next 6 months I’ll take this beautiful weather although not sure I’ll be saying that in the midst of Summer with heat rash from this not so glamorous accessory lol

Moving on, for week six we are making the next two blocks.

Start by using the EPP technique to create two pieced sunflowers.

Next is to create the background blocks. To do this take 4 low volume squares and sew them together as shown.

Next step is to line up the pieced sunflower blocks to the background blocks as shown in the diagram. Once these pieces have been centered to the background square, applique the pieced sunflowers into place.

And there you have it the blocks for week 6 are completed.

Have you laid out your blocks so far? I’d love to see a snap shot of how your quilt is coming along.
