I am teaching at AQC

AQC email-headerI have been asked to teach at AQC (Australasian Quilt Convention) in Melbourne again this year.

The dates are 10, 11, 12 & 13th April. It is always a fabulous event and there is a great line up of tutors to choose from.

This is what I will be teaching in my classes.

Thursday 10th April
The Wagon Wheels Quilt

Skill level: Beginner/ Intermediate

Materials fee: $230 full pattern and fabric kit or $62.80 for pattern, papers and template only. All handwork; no machines used

Get on the road to creating a beautiful hand-pieced and appliquéd quilt that combines several traditional techniques. Work on your skills in English paper piecing, needleturn appliqué and reverse appliqué with Sue’s tips and tricks to make it easier and better. The tuition and materials supplied by Sue will ensure accurate Wagon Wheel blocks and effective cornerstone blocks, inspired by Lucy Boston’s Patchwork of the Crosses. You’ll learn from Sue how to appliqué the sweet border stems and blossoms.

The On The Go Bag

Materials fee: $68.50 full pattern and fabric kit or $47 for kit with no fabric.

All handwork, no machines

Here’s a gorgeous project that uses the perennial favourite – the Tumbler block. You will learn all Sue’s tips and tricks on how to make English paper piecing faster and more enjoyable. This cute bag is made with red and white reproduction scrap prints, but you could make yours in any colourway or range. Be warned, you may not be able to stop at one! It’s a great small project that you will finish in next to no time. Finished size is about 10” x 11”.

The Madeleine Quilt

Materials fee: $160 for pattern, papers and fabric kit or $48.40 for pattern, papers and template only. All handwork, no machines used.

Create a beautiful medallion-style quilt and learn all about the finer points of English paper piecing in this class. This beautiful quilt is made using several shapes and will come together fairly quickly once you get started. Sue will show you how to create the six-pointed starflower centre and share her secrets of how to fussy cut fabric. You will also learn how to sew the clamshells in the setting triangles using Sue’s own techniques. Develop your knowledge of English paper piecing, needleturn appliqué and fussy cutting.
